Headway Belfast Family Support - Providing support to the families of survivors of brain injury

We recognise that life following a brain injury can be problematic and can have a serious impact on family life.  Family Support is one service at Headway Belfast that aims to provide the kind of support when it is needed most and at an appropriate time to the family members who often feel at a loss when brain injury happens.

When a family member has suffered a brain injury, the lives of the other members of the family are also affected.  Headway Belfast Family Support aims to signpost individuals to appropriate sources of information and assistance, whether that be statutory bodies, through specific literature or suggesting attendance at organized information giving events.

How can Headway Belfast Family Support Help?

• We offer emotional support and understanding
• Carer Support Telephone Tree – giving carers the opportunity to talk to others in similar situations in a time of need
• We offer support with practical issues which may impact on the family
• We provide guidance, information and literature about all aspects of brain injury

When?

Headway Belfast holds Family Support Meetings on the last Monday of every month at the Regional Acquired Brain Injury Unit (RABIU) from 6pm - 7pm. Families are offered the opportunity to meet with others who have been through the trauma of brain injury providing peer support, events, and information giving.
